Dr Joel Grist graduated from RMIT University in 1996. Since completing the initial 5 year chiropractic double bachelor degree, Joel has also undertaken countless hours of post-graduate training in chiropractic technique, patient education, and communication. He has completed study in Applied Kinesiology, Chiropractic Ecology, Thomson technique, S.O.T, Activator Methods, Neuro Linguistic Programming, and the Myotherapy technique of Dry Needling (Acupuncture).

Initially working in Melbourne for three years, Joel then travelled extensively and worked throughout Australia and Europe. Looking to put all he had learnt together, he commenced practice as the principal chiropractor at Colac Chiropractic in 2003.

A long running family practice, Colac Chiropractic Clinic has allowed Joel to deliver his relaxed, no nonsense approach to health care- based on regular chiropractic care, organic food, exercise and positive attitudes- to an ever growing client base.

Dr Joel's time out of the office is mainly devoted to his wonderful family: wife Susan, and three boys, Lachlan, Bailey and Cooper.  Joel is an Advanced Nitrox Scuba Diver, an avid pool and open water swimmer, and a keen mountain bike and road cyclist.

Dr Melanie Coxon

Dr Melanie Otterson graduated from RMIT University in 2000. Her inspiration to become a chiropractor followed a life changing experience with a lecturing chiropractor which freed her of a chronic and quite debilitating health condition.

This introduction to chiropractic has formed the basis of her practice philosophy and technique approach: restoring spinal function not just for the reduction of aches and pains, but for the whole body benefit a properly functioning spine and nervous system can have in restoring and maintaining health and wellbeing.

Since graduating she has worked throughout country Victoria and Metro Melbourne and returned to her home town of Colac in 2010.

Dr Melanie works with some of the larger Colac employers with their workcare return to work management, and loves providing pregnancy care to expecting mum's and is great with kids of all ages, especially if they like riddles and jokes!!
